Today is Monday 21st may 2012. I’ve learned about Background to B2B
eCommerce and it covered 6 topics on it such as purchasing activities,
logistics activities, support activities, egovernment, EDI and VANS.
What I
has been exposed that companies can use eCommerce to improve purchasing and
logistics processes, support processes such as finance, administration,
technology and flexibility to respond to changing circumstances.
Purchasing activities are the identifying vendors,
evaluating vendors, selecting specific products, placing orders and resolving
issue after order has been received.
Logistics activities are providing the right goods
in the right quantities in the right place at the right time. For example Warehousing
and controlling.
Enhancing support activities via web technology for
example all the information must be secure and make a training material through
online.
eGovernment is to Provide ways for citizen to
interact online with the government. It’s also to distribute benefit payments,
increase the availability of information.
EDI is stand for Electronic Data Interchange. It’s
the transfer of business information between two businesses that use a standard
format of some kind such as invoices, purchase orders. EDI Standards are ACS
X12 (American National Standards Institute), UN/EDIFACT (United Nations) and
agreement to develop one set of international standards, but….no date set for
implementation.
Value-added network (van) provides communications
equipment, software and skills.
